Six stuffed Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago). The Snipe is a species native to Britain all year round, but most common in the winter. It is most noteworthy for the length of its bill, which makes up about a quarter of the bird's total length. It lives mainly on worms and invertebrates buried in the ground, although it also feeds on insects found on the ground surface.
