Title: Barmston Manor House
Item Name: Country House

Description:

Surviving portion of a much larger 17th-century house. Celia Fiennes, who visited the area in 1697, described Barmston as "newer built" than Burton Agnes, which dates from 1601-10. Main two-storey brick range with basement and attics, with lower range to left. Some mullion and transom windows. Two large rear chimney breasts, one with four stacks, the other with two. The hall stands on a moated site, and replaced a medieval house.
