Description:

The house built in 1772 was enlarged in 1852 and largely rebuilt in 1872. Large red-brick house with stone dressings. Canted bays to south front. Stone entrance porch to east front. Between 1905 and 1907 the owner, James Harrison, had several pygmies he had brought back from an expedition to Zaire living in the park. The house was used as a hospital from 1932-95. Architects & Craftsmen: Rebuilt by William Hawe, 1872; further work by Hawe, 1881. Alterations by W.H. Brierley, c. 1910. Stable block dated 1874 by Hawe.
