East Riding Museums

A large house of red brick, in the Tudor style. The house has been demolished but the balustrade and terrace survive, together with an entrance lodge of 1888, and stable block of 1888-9. The walled garden dates from the 18th century, and the grounds of the college are surrounded on three sides by the Reins, the boundary bank of the medieval deer park of the Archbishops of York. It was built in 1871-5, replacing an early 17th-century house. Architects & Craftsmen: Designed by George Devey, who worked there 1871-5.
