Description:
A most attractive Jacobean mansion built of stone, almost certainly from Kirkham Priory. The splendid two-storey seven-bay south front has large mullion and transom windows throughout with full-height canted bays to either end. The entrance bay projects with paired Ionic columns flanking the doorway and paired Corinthian columns above. Late 18th-century stable block. Architects & Craftsmen: Not known, but in the style of Robert Smythson. Internal remodellng and stable block of c. 1775 attributed to John Carr. Internal woodwork of c. 1710 by William Thornton of York.
