Description:
The largest of several houses in Welton built by Hull merchants. A house on the site was rebuilt by Thomas Williamson c. 1769 and again in the early 19th century (possibly c. 1818) by his daughter Anne, wife of Robert Raikes senior, a Hull banker. It was an impressive two-storey house of white brick, with a hugh portico on the north side. The house was extended after the Broadleys acquired it. Architects & Craftsmen: Not known. Plans survive for proposed additions by Botterill Son & Bilson, 1896. An improvement plan for the grounds of the earlier house on the site was drawn up by Thomas White in 1769.
