Copper alloy girdle hanger, dark green to black patina. Decorated with a line of punched circles all around the edges of the outer surface and incised lines running across at several points. Some ferrous oxide remaining at top end. Excavation: Sewerby, Anglian Cemetery, Home Farm, 1959, 1974 (grave 49, find nr.10). The function of these items is unclear, but as they resemble keys and are generally found in female graves, it could be that they symbolise the woman of the household's control over the domestic duties.
