Title: Decorated copper alloy plaque
Item Name: Fixtures and Fittings

Description:

Thin almost square copper alloy plaque (cast?), with small traces of tinning or gilding on both sides. Most of one surface is decorated with ornate knotwork patterns, with some of the raised areas also having wavy linear scoring on them. Some of the recessed areas at the corners have traces of dark material in them - enamel? The back is plain, apart from some traces of tinning. Possibly a mount for a box or piece of furniture, although there are no obvious holes for fixing the plaque to a surface. The object was found in a box in the donor's garage and may have been collected by previous owners through metal detecting though this is not known for sure.
