Description:
Two bone-handled, steel forks. The handles, decorated with incised lines and chequered patterns, are in two sections, rivetted through the steel section. The forks have two tines and are marked "STEEL" on the back of the mid section. Perhaps 17th or 18th century. Found by the late Philip Meldrum (born in Hull), who lived at Rise Cottage, Grindale, opposite a field containing a Medieval settlement. These items were field walked from fields in the area.
