Watercolour of SS Liberty. Portside view of a black hulled, sail-assisted steamer, with two masts and five sails set. The funnel is black with a white band. The vessel flies a tricolour flag, the company flag and a red ensign. In the background is a sailing vessel and a light ship. See also G782, another view of the same vessel. Watercolour/bodycolour on paper, in a wooden frame, glazed. Built in 1890, the Liberty had a weight of 924 tons. From 1906, she was owned by the Goole Steam Shipping Company. she was used on the Hamburg run and was once chased by German battleships in 1914, during WWI. The vessel was scrapped in 1931.
