Description:
Lead battleship from the First World War memorial in Hengate, Beverley. The sculpture included four lead models held by female figures. The other three elements were a tank, bi-plane and a medical symbol (A snake wrapped around a rod). By 2011 only the battleship remained, and this was used to create a replacement along with photographs of the other missing elements. When the original battleship was taken down in 2012 it had the word 'Pape' marked roughly with a chisel on its base. This was possibly the name of a carpenter and undertaker business in the town in the 1920s.
