Scorpion Conch shell (Strombus Crocata), from the Indian / Pacific Ocean. Large spines around edges. white, speckled brown. Part of the Pamplin shell collection. There are around 100 types of conch shell, found widely around the world. Some types produce pearls, which are used in jewellery. the spines on the scorpion conch enable it to traverse patches of sand around coral reefs, without being swept away by the currents.
