Two Bull Mouthed Helmet shells (Cypraecasis Rufa), from the Indian Ocean. Orange and pale pink. Part of the Pamplin shell collection. Helmet shells take their name from their supposed resemblance to the helmets of Roman gladiators. The bull-mouthed variety are mainly found off the coast of East Africa and have traditionally been used to make cameo brooches.
