Two True Limpet shells (Achmaea Testudinalis), from the Atlantic Plate, New England. One purple and one orange. Part of the Pamplin shell collection. Limpets are found on coastal rocks, their strong feet enabling them to hang on against the heaviest waves. The interior of limpet shells often have an iridescent sheen.
