A Turner's Volute shell (Amoria Turneri), from North Australia. Dirty white, with streaks of pale orange. Part of the Pamplin shell collection. Volute shells are large and often elaborately patterned (particularly the tropical specimens). The majority of the 200 or so species are found off the coasts of Australia, living in sand.
