Description:
Silver post-medieval "Bosun's" whistle, used for signalling, giving orders and as a badge of rank. Oval, hollow, with either end decorated with six raised petals with a central pellet - perhaps meant to represent a flower. There is a ridge and flanking grooves at the mid point where the two halves are joined. Perforated through this ridge with a 0.56cm hole. Found by metal detecting at Ellerker, in about 2005.
