Title: Ship's futtock

Description:

Oak timber from a wooden sailing vessel of the late 18th or 19th century. A futtock, that is to say part of the frame of the vessel above the keel. Wooden trenails and iron nails survive in situ. The timber was found on the foreshore at Spurn in late summer 2003, by a member of the public and later recovered by Humber Field Archaeology. No other remains were found in the area.
