Description:

Russian lead sack/bag seal, with cyrillic lettering on both sides and the date 1837. Probably a St. Petersburg seal. Such seals were applied to Russian flax/hemp sacks in the late 18th/early 19th centuries as part of the customs process when exporting goods through Baltic sea ports. Part of metal detecting collection belonging to the late Terry Britten.
