Description:

Russian lead sack/bag seal, with cyrillic lettering on both sides. On one side NP M06N....8. On the other LD(?) and then probably the name of the customs official. Possibly from Archangel in northern Russia. Such seals were applied to Russian flax/hemp sacks in the late 18th/early 19th centuries as part of the customs process when exporting goods through Baltic sea ports. Part of metal detecting collection belonging to the late Terry Britten.
