Description:

Egg collecting at Bempton, a man (assumed to be the man in the record HL98093) can be seen being lowered over the edge of the cliff. In East Yorkshire this activity was often referred to as egg climming (from climbing) and the men who collected the eggs as egg climmers. Watching the egg climmers at work was a popular activity for tourists. Search "climming" and "climmer" for other egg collecting objects and images in our collection.
