Description:

Late Bronze Age pottery sherd from watching brief at 28 Eastgate, North Newbald (grid ref SE9132 3685), in 1999. Red exterior, buff interior, tempered with crushed flint fragments. The site lies within the area of the Medieval village. 38 late Bronze Age features (c1000-600BC) were recorded, mostly postholes, but also one possible hearth. The postholes may represent several different phases of buildings (possibly rectangular). Traces of ditches and pits may represent allotments and domestic waste disposal in the Medieval period.
