Description:
.A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken by Humber Field Archaeology, on behalf of Boston Renewables Ltd., during excavation of the 700m-long cable trench for a 50kW wind turbine at Newbald Lodge, Newbald parish, East Riding of Yorkshire. The site lies in an important archaeological landscape close to where Bronze Age burial mounds, some of them Scheduled Monuments, have been recorded. The cable trench provided evidence for a single, undated 2.74m wide ditch, located to the south-east of an alignment of Bronze Age round barrows. Given the proximity of the burial mounds, it is conceivable that the ditch recorded during the current programme of work is of a similar date. The report concludes that no further work is required in connection with the current development of the wind turbine base and associated trenching.
