Description:
Paper archive from excavation by AC Archaeology at Arras Cottages, Market Weighton, site 328 (grid ref SE921 424), in July 2000. Paper archive in one box file. The excavations identified two trackway ditches and associated enclosure ditches of part of a late Iron Age or Romano-British ladder settlement. The finds archive includes an R-B infant burial from pit 6 (possibly male), pottery (2nd half of 2ndc AD or earlier), charred cereal grain (including barley), animal bone (cattle, sheep, horse, dog and hare), 1 possible sherd of 2nd-3rdc glass, and 1 piece of iron-working slag. Some of the pottery may date to the late Iron Age. Excavations were in advance of the Teeside-Saltend Ethylene pipeline. Also site 909 at the same location.
