Description:
Large piece of iron working slag. Comparable to mid-late Iron Age iron smelting slags from the Foulness river valley. 2 fragments of vitrified hearth lining were also found (context 23). From watching brief at Balk Field, Pocklington, context 16 ( centred on grid ref SE 8045 4920) Carried out by Northern Archaeological Associates in December 2002.
