Parking issue

Provides information about parking issues and allows customers to report parking issues to us when appropriate.

Illegally parked vehicles

We use parking restrictions, such as yellow lines and marked bays to show where you can and can’t park or stop. These rules help keep roads safe, clear, and traffic flowing. Different types of parking restrictions are in place across the East Riding of Yorkshire.

We are responsible for making sure certain parking rules are followed. Our civil enforcement officers (CEOs) are out across the county to check that drivers are parking correctly. If they find a vehicle breaking the rules, they may issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Please bear in mind we use a virtual permit system. This means that permits are not displayed in vehicles and are viewed by our CEOs on their handheld devices.

You must check that the vehicle you are reporting is actually parking during the times of the restriction. Parking outside of the restricted hours is permitted.

A vehicle with a valid Blue Badge and clock can park on yellow lines for up to 3 hours, unless there are kerb markings showing that this isn't allowed.

Inconsiderate parking

Any vehicle may park on a public road where there are no parking restrictions, even if this is outside your property. If a vehicle has parked inconsiderately, not illegally, we can not take any action.

Please note:parking on a grass verge is not a parking violation in itself and we can not take action unless there are other restrictions in place such as single or double yellow lines.

We can not take action when parking is causing an obstruction unless there are other restrictions in place. You can report such obstructions to the police by calling 101 or visiting the Humberside Police website

You can report vehicles being parked where restrictions apply We will look into your report and send an officer to the location if it’s appropriate, but this might not happen straight away. If you have given us your contact details, we will only get in touch if we need more information. You won’t receive an update about any action taken. Please include as much detail as you can.
