Waterways - what we do

Explains what the council does to improve and care for our waterways.

What does the council do to improve waterways in the East Riding?

We work in partnership with public, private, community and voluntary organisations to manage, develop, enhance and promote our waterways so that they contribute to economic, environmental and social regeneration. Between 2008 and 2010, we worked closely with the Coast, Wolds, Wetlands and Waterways (CWWW) LEADER programme to establish the East and North Yorkshire Waterways Partnership.

From its inception, the aim of the Waterways Partnership has been to develop, restore, enhance and promote the waterways in our local area for the benefit of everyone. The partnership strives to bring together diverse interest groups and build consensus so that partners work cooperatively to manage and care for our waterways and maximise their potential.
