Sector-based work academy programme (SWAP)

Getting a job is never easy at the best of times but recently, it has become more difficult. If you have been out of work for a long time or have recently become unemployed, then we can help

About the programme

Sector-based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) is a four day short course to support people aged 19 or over in the East Riding to build their skills and confidence to apply for jobs at the council.

You will work with our highly experienced employability team to identify the jobs you feel would suit you and then consider your skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge in relation to these jobs.

As part of the programme you will also be given access to up to 6 hours of 1:1 support from a Learning Support Assistant. They will help you to prepare and save a council application form and, if you see a job that you want to apply for, help you to construct and submit your application form.

At the end of the programme you will receive a certificate of completion and will hopefully feel more confident to continue to apply for jobs at the council.

The benefits

SWAP will give you dedicated support to boost your skills and confidence when applying for jobs at the council. By the end of the course you’ll have a much better understanding of what the council is looking for in an employee, and how to make sure that your application form and interview gives you the best possible chance of success in getting the job you want.

Where is it held?

SWAP is delivered virtually, over Teams.
