Child behaviour

What help is there to deal with your child's difficult behaviour and how to find out about parenting courses near to where you live.

Is there any help available for me deal with my child's difficult behaviour?

Depending on the age of your child, there are a number of places or people that will be able to give you support.

If your child is under five years of age you can contact your health visitor or visit your local Children’s Centre where there will be people who will be able to give you advice and support.

Once your school reaches school age you can talk to your child's class teacher or someone else at the school who may be able to give you the help that you need, or if not, give you suggestions of where else you could go or who you could talk to.

Your GP may be able to give you some help or if needed refer you on to another professional whose job it is to help parents understand and manage children’s behaviour or support children directly.

Also, across the East Riding there are parenting courses that are run for parents who may be struggling to manage with their child's difficult behaviour.

For more information about the courses that are available the Families Information Service Hub (FISH) web pages has details about these and other help that may be useful for you:
