Using the Citizen Portal

Creating an account

If you have not used the online Citizen Portal for a school application before, you’ll need to create an account and verify your email address from a link that will be sent to you.

Accessing the Citizen Portal

If you are having difficulties accessing the Citizen Portal to complete your application, we recommend:

• using a different internet browser
• making sure that you access the form through the blue button link above - you cannot apply for a school place through your usual council account.

Completing the in-year application form

The form asks for information such as:

• your contact details
• which school(s) you would like your child to attend - you can select up to three preferences
• whether you have parental responsibility
• if you have another child at one of your preferred schools.

You can also include reasons for your application and attach any relevant supporting information. You will receive the outcome of your application via email.

After you have submitted your application

After you submit your form, you will receive an email to confirm the application has been submitted.

This will acknowledge that we have received your application and confirm the school preferences that you listed.
