    Introduction

Between 2 November and 14 December, the council consulted on the admission arrangements for community and voluntary-controlled schools for the 2024-25 school year.

On 31 January 2024, East Riding of Yorkshire’s cabinet determined the local authority’s admission arrangements and coordinated schemes for 2024-25.

    Summary of changes

The majority of the arrangements for 2024-25 remain the same as previous years, with some minor changes to improve clarity and detail. However, there are also some more significant changes, as shown below. Detailed information can be also found in the ‘Summary of Key Changes’ document.

Admissions documents for the 2024/25 school year

The following documents relate to the admissions arrangements for the 2024/25 school year, and are available to download in PDF format.

    Please note:

The Fair Access Protocol is included with the other documents here, but it only takes effect once most schools in East Riding agree to it. This protocol itself is reviewed separately from the council’s yearly admission arrangements.

    Changes to catchment areas

Adjustments were made to the catchment areas for Beverley St Nicholas community primary school and Woodmansey CE VC primary school. These were updated to include new housing developments within the catchment area for Beverley St Nicholas. A detailed map is included with the documents below.

    In-year applications

Several changes relate to In-year school applications, including the introduction of waiting lists. Now, if an applicant is refused a place during the current school year, they will be added to a waiting list in case a place becomes available before the school year ends.

Changes to Published Admission Numbers (PANS)

Changes to the Published Admission Numbers (PANs) were proposed by the council or the governing bodies of community and voluntary-controlled schools for the following eight schools:

    • Bridlington School – PAN increased from 165 to 200 for Year 7
    • Holme on Spalding Moor Primary School – PAN decreased from 50 to 30 for reception
    • Hornsea Burton Primary School – PAN decreased from 17 to 15 for reception
    • Keldmarsh Primary School – PAN increased from 30 to 45 for reception
    • Skidby CE VC Primary School – PAN increased from 12 to 15 for reception
    • Snaith Primary School – PAN increased from 40 to 45 for reception
    • Sutton upon Derwent CE VC Primary School – PAN increased from 7 to 15 for reception
    • Swinemoor Primary School – PAN decreased from 40 to 30 for reception.

All of these changes were approved, and the ‘Summary of Key Changes’ document explains the reasons for them. You can view this document below.
