Details of the continuing professional development (CPD) courses on offer from Schools' Music Service.

Can the East Riding Music Hub deliver weekly curriculum music?

Yes, we have a team of skilled and experienced classroom practitioners who can deliver weekly classroom music lessons. Schemes of worked will be planned in line with the national curriculum and will have a practical emphasis.

Planning can be linked to school topics and the classroom practitioner could also work alongside the class teacher as part of their own CPD. We can provide classroom percussion instruments and resources as part of the package.

What CPD courses have already taken place?

The curriculum team have led a variety of training. These sessions have included, music reskilling, composition, graphic scores, listening, vocal work, resources, music express, national curriculum, Ofsted, use of ICT, behaviour management and the use of non-verbal commands. The team have received very positive feedback.

What CPD courses are coming up?

The curriculum team are planning a variety of upcoming CPD training including 'Reskilling - teaching music as a non-specialist' and 'Teaching vocal technique and sharing vocal resources'. The curriculum team can also offer bespoke training for a specific school or cluster group. The following feedback was given by a Head teacher who asked the team to lead a two-part twilight session on 'Music Express'.

Where does the CPD take place?

CPD would normally take place at the Hexagon Centre in Beverley. We can however come to you to deliver training to support all school staff, alternatively we can work with teachers on a one-to-one basis if they have specific CPD requests.
