Rural beaches and access points

Where are the rural beaches?

The East Riding of Yorkshire enjoys over 80 miles of coast and foreshore areas with a range of facilities and nature sites.

The coastline is diverse in its make up, stretching from the chalk cliffs of Bempton and Flamborough Head, through to the Holderness plain with boulder clay and sandy dunes and then along to the wetlands of the Humber Estuary.

You can find more information about where each rural beach is located (including grid references) in the Explore the East Riding Coast booklet:

What is access to the beaches like?

Access to the beaches varies in each location and some areas may be difficult for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Access to each beach is described in more detail in the Explore the East Riding Coast booklet:

If you are visiting any of the beaches please be aware that the East Riding coast area is subject to considerable erosion and that this may affect some of the access points. Please take care.

What facilities do the beaches have?

Only a few of the rural beaches provide toilet facilities and/or refreshments.

The facilities available at each beach are described in more detail in the Explore the East Riding Coast booklet:
