Births

A birth must be registered in the district in which it occurred.  If the birth took place in another district we can still register it by declaration, you can make an appointment to do this at any of our ten registration offices.

COVID-19 Update

Birth registration appointments will now be deferred until we are through the current pandemic period.

Customers are advised that they can now make a claim for child benefit or universal credit prior to the birth being registered, where they have not been able to do so because of these measures.
