Where can I find information about support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

The Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) provide information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities.

The service provided is impartial and confidential and provides  information and advice about meeting the needs of children and young people with SEN or disabilities (aged 0 - 25) including:

  • SEN support in the early years
  • schools and further education providers
  • assessments and Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans
  • SEN and disability
  • health and social care law
  • choosing a school/post-16 education
  • preparing for adulthood
  • personal budgets
  • Disability Living Allowance and grant-giving organisations
  • local parent carer support groups
  • social and leisure opportunities for children and young people with SEND
  • childcare for children with SEND
  • resolving disagreements, mediation and appeals
  • signposting young people with SEND to services that can provide support or advocacy local and national voluntary services.

Where can I find information about TYLER - The Young Leaders of East Riding?

TYLER is a group of young people who want to ensure all children and young people who have a disability, learning difficulty or health need get their voices heard. 

If you have a passion for making a difference to other people's lives and are aged 14-25, TYLER is the group for you!

Come along to our meetings and meet other young people with similar interests. For an opportunity to socialise, share stories and experiences, make new friends and have fun.

What is the East Riding Local Offer?

This is where you can find a range of services available in the East Riding area to support parents, children and young people aged 0–25 years with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). The Local Offer aims to make it as easy as possible for children, young people and their families to access services and achieve their goals.

If you know of someone that doesn’t have access to a computer, they can find out more about the help that’s available by contacting the Families Information Hub (FISH) team on:

The FISH team can also print out pages from the Internet for you, and talk through the information over the phone and at face-to-face meetings.

Where can I find information about support for babies and young children with additional needs (early support)?

You can find information and support services that are available for families of babies/young children with additional needs on the Early Support page of the Local Offer website:

If your child has a need or difficulty that requires support from a specialist service, it is likely that your health visitor will refer you to the early support panel. 

If you think your child could benefit from some additional help from early support, you can find out how to access help on the Local Offer website.

LOOK AHEAD is a service for parent carers of children aged between 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
