Thursday, 22 August 2024

Pupils across East Riding have today, Thursday 22 August, received their GCSE results.

Over 3,000 pupils across 18 secondary schools in the East Riding have received their results.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families, and education, said: "Congratulations to all of our pupils who received their GCSE results today!

"I hope each student achieves the grades they aimed for, and I wish them great success in their future paths, whether that be in further education, training, or their chosen career.

"A big thank you to the dedicated and hardworking teachers for the support they give in helping students reach their full potential.”

Withernsea High Headteacher, Mark Crofts, said: "It was a delight to welcome back our Year 11 students this morning, many with family and friends, to receive their GCSE results. We could sense the anticipation that had built up beforehand for many and this was met with satisfaction, elation and for some, relief!

"It goes without saying that we are immensely proud of what our Year 11 students have achieved over their time at Withernsea High School. They leave us not just with qualifications to be proud of, but with experiences, skills and the confidence to go on to achieve their goals in life."

David Perry, Headteacher of Longcroft School and Sixth Form, said:  “We are so proud of all our pupils who today have seen their hard work and determination pay off. We must not underestimate how challenging the secondary educational experience has been for these young people, nor the significant shadow cast by the Covid pandemic. They have shown tremendous courage, character and fortitude.“

Olivia has been presented with a special letter of commendation after not only achieving the coveted grade 9 in every subject, but doing so with scores that placed her amongst the very highest performers in the country. In a number of components Olivia achieved the maximum possible score without dropping a single mark. Following her extraordinary achievement, Olivia said, “I am absolutely thrilled with my results. I can’t believe I have done so well. I am hoping to pursue a career in Medicine in the future so these grades will hopefully stand me in good stead. I’d like to thank all of my teachers for all of their hard work and support.”
