Wednesday, 19 March 2025

Goole Museum’s 11th annual open art exhibition, a new, must-see collection of artworks which celebrates local artistry and creativity, is now open to the public.

There is a wealth of artistic talent in and around Goole and the museum have some wonderful artworks on display this year which have been created by the public.

Whether visitors are looking for inspiration or simply wanting to come along to appreciate the art, the exhibition has something for everyone with a huge variety in styles and mediums.

Standards have been high in previous years, and, with a record number of entries, this year is no exception.

Selections for this year’s exhibition were made by local artists Rich and Lou Duffy-Howard. This includes entries that were selected from the participants of Goole Museum’s young artist workshops, which took place during the February half term.

Within the exhibition there is everything from traditional landscapes, abstract art, portraits, textiles, sculptures and much more.

For some visitors it could be a fantastic opportunity to purchase a locally created, original piece of art for themselves or someone special.

This year Goole Museum are running the ‘people’s choice’ vote, in which visitors will be able to vote for their favourite work of art. The winner will receive a prize and the opportunity to have their own exhibition in the community display area.

Dr Alex Ombler, curator at Goole Museum said: ‘’We are thrilled to unveil this new art exhibition, which showcases a diverse array of talent and creativity.

‘’Each piece tells a unique story and reflects the vibrant spirit of our community.

‘’We invite everyone to explore the exhibition and be inspired by the incredible works on display.’’

The Goole Museum’s Open Art exhibition will be open to the public until Saturday 31 May.
