Spectacular Winter Woodland light display at Sewerby Hall and Gardens is open

Thursday, 12 December 2024

The dazzling Winter Woodland light display has returned to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

Winter Woodland opened to the public on Friday, 6 December and received a wonderful reception from the public, it can be enjoyed at Sewerby Hall and Gardens until Sunday, 22 December 2024.

Brand new to 2024, Winter Woodland features never seen before, Christmas themed light installations. 16 giant gingerbread men now feature on the already sensational Christmas light display. The 8-foot tall, whimsical gingerbread men are lined along the path at the start of the woodland trail, drawing visitors into the colourful adventure.

Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the wonderland, having many opportunities to take selfies along the way. Also new to 2024, the event features an immersive, rainbow light tunnel which has proved to be a great spot for photographs.

The public are able to become part of the story during their visit with story book characters including a Baker, Puss in Boots and the Golden Goose along the light trail to keep everyone entertained with their jolly interactions. The pantomime experience is extravagantly lit, winding through the enchanted forest paths.

The entire journey around Winter Woodland is sprinkled with illuminations such as sparkling baubles, wonderous reindeers and Santa’s sleigh even makes an appearance. Laser alley is also an enchanting feature of Winter Woodland in which the public can explore another fascinating element of the grounds.

The dazzling event is supported by special effects, lighting up the grounds of Sewerby Hall and Gardens into the night, wowing families and visitors alike, and getting everyone into the festive spirit.

Food and drinks are available from the Clock Tower Café, Stables Pizza Company, Love Hog Roast and Peaky Grinders. The courtyard marquee will house a licenced bar from Louisianna Bars. Refreshments are also available to purchase along the route including tasty, toasted marshmallows.

To help visitors fully enjoy the experience there are set arrival times to choose from each evening, please check the website for the available times.

A relaxed performance will be held on Monday, 16 December with the full experience recommencing from 5.30pm. Relaxed performances will feature reduced volume, no lasers, no haze or smoke machines, and the characters in the woodland will be aware of sensory needs.
