£250,000 road improvement scheme starts in Gilberdyke

Friday, 13 March 2026

scheme to improve roads in the village of Gilberdyke has got underway this week.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £250,000 to upgrade road surfaces in Hansard Drive, Oaklands and Willow Green in Gilberdyke.

The work began on Wednesday 11 March and is scheduled to take around seven weeks to complete.

The project includes the resurfacing of roads and footpaths, as well as drainage improvements.

During the construction period, roads being worked on will be closed to all through traffic and diversions will be in place.

Access to properties within working areas, as well as post, deliveries and bin collections, will be maintained.

The work is being carried out by the council’s own road improvements team.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We want to thank local residents and drivers for their patience while we carry out these improvements, which will make a difference to these roads.”
