£270,000 improvements for road at High Hunsley near South Cave

Friday, 9 January 2026

A scheme to improve a stretch of road at High Hunsley, near South Cave, is to get underway.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £270,000 in a project to upgrade a length of White Gap Lane, between Westoby Lane and Comberdale Hill, which is due to start on Tuesday 13 January.

The daytime work is scheduled to take three weeks to complete and will include resurfacing and structural patching of the road.

During the construction period, the affected road will be closed to all through traffic. A clearly marked diversion route will be operation via Comberdale Hill and Westoby Lane.

While the road is closed, access to properties within the working area will be maintained.

The scheme will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you to local residents and motorists travelling in the area for bearing with us while we improve the surface of this road.”
