Young Live Well: Living Well with Asthma

Tuesday, 30 June 2026

Young Live Well: Living Well with Asthma is a new healthy lifestyles programme for children and young people living in East Riding.

This free 12-week programme is designed for young people aged 10 to 18 years old with asthma who may be less active or feel that their asthma is a barrier to exercise.

The programme launches from May 2026 across the council's leisure centres at East Riding Leisure Hornsea and Goole, with another cohort to follow based at East Riding Leisure Bridlington from September 2026.

Health professionals and schools can submit a referral on behalf of a young person by completing the form below and emailing it to our healthy lifestyle development officer Kirsty Forrester: kirsty.forrester@eastriding.gov.uk

Please get in touch if you have any questions about making a referral, or the programme.

Programme overview

Each session combines a 15-minute interactive education component, helping participants understand their asthma, build confidence and learn how to manage symptoms effectively, followed by a 45-minute guided exercise session tailored to individual ability levels.

The programme aims to create a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment where young people can gradually increase their physical activity, improve their fitness and develop the skills and confidence to Live Well with Asthma.

  • East Riding Leisure Goole (Goole College) - Mondays 4-5pm
  • East Riding Leisure Hornsea - Mondays 4-5pm

Please note, this is not a clinical service, it is a complementary service which does not replace specialist services such as GPs, dietitians and asthma specialists.
