Child Safety Week runs from Monday, 1 to Sunday, 7 June, and this year's theme is 'Making Prevention Possible', aiming to encourage families to apply simple safety changes around the home without feeling overwhelmed.

Child Safety Week is a great way to refamiliarise yourself with the safety advice that is available from Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) and see how it can be offered to the families that you work with. Simple steps, such as being more aware of kitchen appliance safety, can be achieved by making small changes which have a huge impact and reduce accident risk in the home.

How to get involved

  • Download the Child Safety Parent Pack containing advice on burns, choking, safety around dogs, poisoning, button batteries, falls and many other elements of day-to-day family life which can be adapted to make accident prevention possible
  • Visit the Resource Cetre, containing everything needed to be aware of risk and feel confident in raising awareness about accident prevention
  • Check CAPT's featured advice and sign up for their up-to-date alerts

What the CAPT wants you to know: Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s annual community education campaign, acting as a catalyst for thousands of safety conversations and activities UK-wide.
