A specific assessment methodology has been used to assess the suitability of the sites identified. We used this, together with your responses to the previous consultation, to prepare the Draft Allocations Document.
The methodology updates the previous Housing Site Assessment Methodology and fulfils the role of a Sustainability Appraisal of the Allocations Document:

We have also prepared a briefing note which explains how the Site Assessment Methodology incorporates the statutory requirements for Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment. It also provides an explanation as to why we have taken the final approach to assessing potential development sites:

The table below provides the results of the site assessments used to inform the preparation of the Draft Allocations Document. These have been completed using the Site Assessment Methodology referred to above.
Please note: to see a plan of the sites for consultation, please see the Draft Policies Map.
Fact checking exercise
In advance of the Draft Allocations Document consultation we undertook a 'fact-checking' exercise with those who had submitted a land bid and with the relevant Town and Parish Councils involved.
We asked those who submitted the site and the relevant Town and Parish Councils to consider our assessments for the sites and comment, where necessary, on the accuracy of these in respect of each relevant Site Assessment Methodology (SAM) question.
Consequently, whilst we prepared an individual site assessment sheet for each site in accordance with the SAM, we deliberately sought not to answer questions relating to deliverability for any of the sites at this fact checking stage. Questions over deliverability were asked of those who put the sites forward.
Maps showing the sites which were assessed are available to view/download on a settlement basis in the first table. The draft assessments of the sites for fact-checking on a settlement basis are available to view/download in the second table below.
Please note: only those settlements where we are planning to allocate new land for housing/employment uses were considered. Please see the Strategy Document for more details.
As a result of the fact checking exercise, we received a number of responses. These, together with officer comments are included in the file below:

Please note: These are not the plans and assessments for consultation. The final assessments are set out above and the consultation plans for individual settlements are set out on the Policies Map page.
