North Bridlington Library will be hosting a Poetry Night on Thursday, 5 December from 5.30pm - 7.00pm.

The event has been organised by the Creative Writing Group who meet at the library. Members and non-members alike are welcome to this friendly evening, with drinks and nibbles included.

Paul Hughes, library supervisor, said : “People are invited to bring along some of their favourite poems to share with the group - they can be by an established poet or something you have written yourself.

“You can choose to read your poem out yourself or let someone from the Creative Writing group read it out for you - or just listen and enjoy the atmosphere of what promises to be a fun evening.”

The closing date is drawing near for the Festival of Words Poetry Competition 2019.

This year’s theme is ‘My Mind, My Thoughts’, and entries will be judged by a panel of published Yorkshire poets led by James Nash. The closing date for entries is Saturday, 30 November, 2019.

All poems entered are submitted anonymously, so each is judged on its own merits.

Entries can be made online at www.festivalofwords.co.uk. They cost £3 for adults, and schoolchildren of any age can enter free of charge.
