The council’s popular Active Coast programme is leading walks which explore the full East Yorkshire Coast in manageable sections, split up into ten walks.

The next ‘Cover the Coast’ walk of 11.5 miles will take place on Friday, 5 October at 10am from Sewerby Hall to Flamborough. All these walks are free and are open to anyone who wants to stretch their legs and enjoy the countryside.

The walk takes in the amazing scenery of the sea coast and cliffs of Flamborough, which is famous for its chalky cliffs and wonderful wildlife, especially during the autumn migration.

‘Cover the Coast’ has become increasingly popular over recent months.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “This is exactly what people need when there are limited activities to do over the autumn months -have some fresh air and enjoy the wonderful sights of the East Riding coast”.

The walks have been taking place in East Riding’s key coastal villages, towns, key hubs, beaches, countryside and other fantastic locations. There have been eight countryside walks since the start of the year.

Active Coast recommends walkers to bring food, water, and waterproofs and wear suitable footwear.

Booking is essential as this is such a popular event. For further details, timings and meeting points see www.ActiveCoast.org
