Help to celebrate 50 years of Goole Library and Museum

Tue, 02 Oct 2018

Goole Library and Museum will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in November and will be having a party to celebrate. An exhibition is also being planned and staff really want to hear people’s memories of the building.

Museum curator Debbie Hardy is hoping people will bring in both photographs and anecdotal stories. ‘We would like members of our community to come in and chat to us about their memories of both the library and museum. Maybe they came to the original opening event, saw a memorable exhibition, read a book that changed their lives, met an author or an artist - oranything they want to share with us.

“Visitors can chat with a member of staff and let us do the writing, or visitors can write down their own memories. Transcripts will be displayed in a flip book, along with any photographs brought in by the public. All photos will be scanned and returned and everyone’s story will be included in the exhibition to celebrate our 50th birthday.”

For those who can’t come in but have something they would like to share, people can also send in their memories via post or email. The email address is goole.library@eastriding.gov.uk and the postal address is: Goole Library & Museum, Carlisle Street, Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, DN14 5DS.
