The zoo at Sewerby Hall and Gardens now runs fun workshops at weekends offering children and families the chance to help animals and birds, try crafts, and learn new fun skills!
October will see a range of workshops, all held in the zoo between 11.30am and 12 noon:
Saturday, 13 October : Bug Hotel : a chance to make a bug hotel out of recycled plastic bottles, twigs, and pine cones
Sunday, 14 October : Fat Ball workshop : join the zoo team and make nutritious fat balls for the local bird population
Saturday, 20 October : Penguin Hat workshop : make a penguin hat to colour in. There will be a chance to make an optional donation to help threatened Humboldt penguins in Peru (like the popular Humboldt colony in the zoo).
Sunday, 21 October : Fruit Kebab workshop : join the zoo team and put together fruit and vegetable kebabs, which the zoo staff will then place in the enclosures for the animals
Saturdays and Sundays from 27 October – 4 November : Hallowe’en Scary Animal Mask Workshops : a great seasonal event, to make scary animal masks.
The zoo workshops are included in the normal admission charges to Sewerby Hall and Gardens. Adult tickets are £7.50 (£8 in school holidays) and children’s tickets are £5.40 (£5.90 in school holidays). Family tickets are also available at £24 (£26 in school holidays). Annual passes area also available, offering big discounts.
