Cover the Coast from Bempton to Hunmanby - the final walk of 2018

The council’s popular Active Coast programme has been leading walks to explore the full East Yorkshire Coast in manageable sections, split up into ten walks.

The final ‘Cover the Coast’ walk of 2018 will be 12 miles and will take place onFriday, 2 November, startingat 10am, from Bempton to Hunmanby.

All the walks are free and are open to anyone who wants to stretch their legs and enjoy the countryside.

This last walk of the season will continue along the Headlands Way, covering the last section of the East Yorkshire coast and briefly crossing into North Yorkshire. It will be a chance to enjoy the scenery around Bempton, Speeton, Reighton and Hunmanby, including amazing views across to Filey and the Brigg.

‘Cover the Coast’ has proved increasingly popular since its launch in February.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “I am delighted that these coastal walks have proved so popular, and have been a useful and rewarding addition to the Active Coast programme”.

The walks have been taking place in East Riding’s key coastal villages, towns, key hubs, beaches, countryside and other fantastic locations. There have been nine countryside walks since the start of the year.

Active Coast recommends walkers to bring food, water, and waterproofs and wear suitable footwear.
