Cafe Chats are coming to Sewerby Hall and Gardens

Fri, 02 Nov 2018

On Monday, 12 November at 1.30pm the Museum Team at Sewerby Hall and Gardens will be launching the first of their new Cafe Chats.

Based in the Clock Tower Cafe, every second Monday between November and March, there will be an opportunity to join a member of the museum team for an informal and interactive chat based around one or more items from the Museum collection.

Education officer Robert Chester said : “It will, quite literally, be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the people behind the Museum, get to grips with historical objects from the collection and learn a little more about them and their significance.”

The first Chat in November will look at the end of the Great War and its impact.

Future chats will include topics inspired by objects linked to subjects as diverse as Christmas, prehistory and archaeology, Amy Johnson, the seaside, costume, food and the weather. It is hoped that, as the chats progress, future topics will be chosen by those attending.

Details, times and dates of the chats can be found on the Sewerby Hall and Gardens website, or by ringing Sewerby Hall on 01262 673769 . All the chats will last between 20 minutes and an hour.

Admission to the café area and to the Café Chat event will be free.
