Major improvements to the A614 at Bainton have been completed.

The road, which was in poor condition, has been repaired and resurfaced with a low noise high grip material. Work also took place to replace kerbing and drainage, including drainage improvements north of the village.

The work, costing £630,000, was carried out on behalf of the council by CEMEX UK and was fundedby acontribution from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund. This funding was secured following the submission of a successful bid by the council.

Councillor Symon Fraser, portfolio holder for strategic asset management, housing and environment, said: “I am delighted that this is another significant scheme to be delivered through our enhanced ‘A’ road maintenance programme, funded following a successful bid to the Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund.

“This scheme has resulted in major benefits for road users and local residents on this busy route.”
