The consultation period for people to give their views on the Allerthorpe Neighbourhood Plan 2019-2034 has now opened.

Allerthorpe Parish Council have prepared and submitted the plan to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, who are now required to formally consult on the proposals.

Neighbourhood plans provide more locally specific planning policy, detailed advice and guidance for the determination of planning applications within areas, such as the Allerthorpe neighbourhood area.

Once adopted, the neighbourhood plan will become an important consideration in determining relevant planning applications within the Allerthorpe area.

Important issues which the neighbourhood plan provides further planning policy and guidance include:

  • housing - infill development and replacement dwellings
  • environment protection – avoidance of flooding and enhancement of biodiversity and habitats
  • economy and business – development of existing employment sites, building conversions, vacant agricultural buildings and new telecommunications infrastructure
  • leisure and tourism – development of land for stationary lodges, mobile homes and caravans
  • transport – improvement of pedestrian and cycle access from the A1079
  • safeguarding existing and encouraging new community services and facilities, including new outdoor recreation facilities
  • design guidance for new residential and commercial development in Allerthorpe.

Any comments will be submitted alongside the plan to an independent examiner who will conduct an examination to test whether the plan meets certain tests specified by the Government before it can progress to a local referendum.

Anyone wishing to make comments on the plan should do so before the consultation closes on Friday, 22 February.

Copies of the neighbourhood plan, response form and accompanying documents can be found on the council’s website – www.eastriding.gov.uk/anp at the Pocklington Pocela Centre and Beverley Customer Service Centre – opening times can be found at www.eastriding.gov.uk/library-finder or www.eastriding.gov.uk/csc or by calling (01482) 393939.
